Letter Verse is a word game that plenty of younger players enjoy. We built it so that a child can play safely, and we take the safety of children seriously. This page explains how the game is designed for that, and what we do about abuse.

The game is built to be safe by design

The biggest risk in most online games is players talking to each other. Letter Verse removes that risk at the source:

• No chat and no direct messaging. Players cannot send each other free text, images, voice, or video. There is nowhere in the app for a stranger to start a private conversation with a child.
• Reactions are emoji only. The only thing one player can send another during a match is a reaction from a small, fixed set of emoji. Anything outside that set is dropped by our servers, so it is not possible to smuggle a message through.
• Public names are filtered. Display names and school names are checked, and offensive names are blocked. A name that slips through can still be removed.
• No profiles to browse. There are no public profiles, follower lists, or ways to search for and contact another player. You play the words, not each other.

No personal details are required

You play as a guest. The app does not ask a child for their real name, email address, phone number, photo, or location. There is nothing personal to share and nothing for someone to collect.

Ads are family-safe

Ads in the app are limited to a family-safe (G) rating and are non-personalized, so they are not targeted based on tracking a player. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

Our standards

Content and behaviour that sexualises, endangers, or exploits a child are strictly forbidden. This includes child sexual abuse material, grooming, and any attempt to use the game to contact or harm a minor. We act on these without exception.

How we respond

• We remove offending content and names.
• We suspend or permanently block accounts involved in abuse.
• We preserve the relevant records and report child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities and to organisations such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), as the law requires.

Reporting a concern

If you have seen something in Letter Verse that puts a child at risk, tell us so we can act. Email info@venmara.com with as much detail as you can (what you saw, and where in the app). We review reports about child safety as a priority.

If a child is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services or police first.

For parents and guardians

Letter Verse has no chat, no messaging, and no way for a stranger to reach your child through the app. Even so, we encourage you to play together and to use the parental controls on your device and app store.
