How to play
One move, then the mode decides.
Changing a single letter is the only move in the game. What you are asked to do with it is different in every mode.
Change one letter
The only legal move. Swap a single letter to make another real word.
Follow the mode's goal
Some modes want every word one letter from the start. Others want you to keep going and chain.
Never repeat a word
Whatever the goal, a word you have already played in that round will not count twice.

On your own
Puzzle
Find every word that sits one letter from the starting word. No chain, no clock: the start word never moves, and you are hunting all of its neighbours.
Evolution
Here the word does move. Each word you find becomes the next one to change, so you travel through the language a letter at a time. No word twice, and the run ends when nothing is left to reach.
Daily challenge
One puzzle a day, the same one for every player in the world. Same rule as Puzzle: find the words hiding a single letter away, then come back tomorrow.
Survival
A chain against a clock. Every valid word buys you a few more seconds, and the reward shrinks the longer you last. A wrong guess costs you nothing, so keep moving.
With other players
Turn Battle
Turn-based. The word passes between players and each turn has its own clock. Change a letter into a word nobody has used yet, or lose a life. Lose them all and you are out; last player standing wins.
Quick Race
Everyone hunts the same starting word at the same time. Most words found in ninety seconds wins.
Fast Fingers
Everyone starts from the same word but builds their own private chain against one shared clock. Longest chain when time runs out wins.
Till I Quit
The same solo chain as Fast Fingers with no clock at all. You play until you quit or run out of moves, and quitting costs you. A nerve game: the last player still going wins.

What is Letter Verse?
Letter Verse is a free word game for Android and iOS. The only move is to change a single letter of a word to make another real word. What you do with that move depends on the mode: some ask you to find every word one letter from the start, others ask you to keep going and build a chain. It has solo modes, a daily challenge everyone shares, and live multiplayer matches with friends.
Is Letter Verse the same app as Letter-Verse or LetterVerse?
Yes. It is one game with one spelling that varies by store. Google Play lists it as Letter Verse and the App Store lists it as Letter-Verse. People also write it LetterVerse, letterverse, or shorten it to LV. All of them mean this game, published by Venmara.
How do you play Letter Verse?
You change exactly one letter of a word to make another valid word. From there the rules split in two. In chain modes such as Evolution, Survival, Turn Battle and Fast Fingers, each word you find becomes the next one to change: BOOK becomes COOK, COOK becomes COOL, COOL becomes WOOL. In hunt modes such as Puzzle, the daily challenge and Quick Race, the starting word stays put and you look for every word sitting one letter away from it. Either way, a word only counts once per round.

Yes. Send a friend a room code and play a live match on the spot. Pass the word from player to player against a clock, or race everyone from the same starting word and see who finds the most. There is no chat and no direct messaging, so a match stays about the words.

Solo modes work without a connection. The daily challenge, leaderboards, and live matches with other players need you to be online.
